There is this constant refrain that we hear from all the environmentalists.." The ozone layer getting depleted" " The ice caps melting" " Global warming" " The earth in danger" etc etc. So is it possible to save the planet.
Well I have to disagree. I appreciate the school of thought of the famous novellist Michael Crichton. In all the heat of discussions(I guess it contributes to the global warmins as well) the crux of the issue is lost, forgotten, dead and buried. Who is in danger here??? Is is the earth or us....
Now the issue is clear. The earth was still there when it was just a ball of fire. It is still there after millions of years. It has gone through a a few iceages without any trouble. It the guys like the Dinos and Dodos who were there earlier but not anymore....
So it boils down to a simple problem " It is the species Homo Sapiens who is in trouble and not the earth". The mantra is not "Save the planet". Rather it is " Save our Souls"
